For the Chicken:
- 2 pound Boneless Chicken Chicken Breasts cut into 1 inch pieces
- 1/3 cup Cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 2 Tablespoons Avocado Oil
For the Sauce:
- 3/4 cup Orange Juice
- 1/4 cup Water
- 1 teaspoon Minced Galic
- 1 teaspoon Minced Ginger or 1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Rice Vinegar
- 1 Orange zested
In a large mixing bowl (or ziplock bag), combine the chicken with the cornstarch, salt and pepper until the chicken is evenly coated.
In a separate bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients. Set aside.
Preheat a Blackstone grill (or griddle) over medium high heat (approximately 400-450 degrees F).
Spread the avocado oil onto the grill in an even layer.
Spread the chicken out into an even layer onto the grill, separating it as much as possible.
Cook the chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until the chicken is almost cooked through.
Pour half of the sauce mixture onto the chicken, stir continuously until the sauce is coating the chicken and thickens.
Add in the remaining sauce and continue to cook and stir as the sauce reduces.
Remove the chicken from the grill. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
Serve as is or over rice. Enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Separate Chicken - When coating the chicken with the cornstarch mixture, make sure that the chicken is separated as much as possible as it can stick together easily. This will help the chicken to cook evenly.
- Use Meat Thermometer - If you're concerned that your chicken is not all the way cooked through, use an instant read meat thermometer to make sure it has an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
- Adding Sauce - Make sure to add in the sauce in 2 steps so that it just doesn't all run all the griddle immediately. It's important to let half of it thicken before adding the remaining sauce mixture. The sauce should be thick and stick to the chicken once it's added.
- Meal Prep Friendly - Reheats beautifully for lunches.
Variations Ideas
-
Spicy Orange Chicken - Add chili paste or sriracha to the sauce for a kick to the sauce flavor.
- Honey Orange Chicken - Replace brown sugar with honey for a richer glaze.
- Add Vegetables - Toss in bell peppers, broccoli, or snap peas for extra crunch and flavor.
