Upgrade your family's favorite side dish with these Smoked Mashed Potatoes. The smoky flavor and simple seasoning is now my go-to way to make mashed potatoes.
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender.
Drain the potatoes and then return them back to the pot.
Then add in the butter, cream cheese, milk, salt and pepper. Use an electric mixer to blend the potatoes until they are light and fluffy or use a hand masher to mash them to the consistency that you prefer.
Spread the mashed potatoes into a cast iron skillet or a disposable aluminum pan.
Place the potatoes in the smoker and cook for them 45-60 minutes until the potatoes have a deep smoked flavor.
Serve warm and enjoy!
