- 4 Beef Filet Mignon approximately 4-6 oz each, trim off any excess fat
- 8 slices Bacon 1-2 pieces per filet
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
First preheat your grill to 450 degrees F.
Wrap 2 slices bacon around each of the 4 beef filet mignon steaks and secure the bacon with toothpicks.
Season both sides of the 4 filet mignon steaks with 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp black pepper.
Rub the grill grates with oil to prevent the sticks from sticking. Place the steaks directly on the grill and grill them for 5-6 minutes per side with the lid on the grill closed.
Then flip the steaks to their sides to grill the bacon around the outside of the steaks slightly. Grill for about 15-30 seconds per side until the bacon is crispy.
Then check the internal temperature of the steak with an instant read thermometer to check the temperature of the steaks. If the steak is not to the temperature that you prefer (see notes) then continue to cook for additional time until the internal temperature is the preference that you prefer.
Let the steak rest for 3-5 minutes, then slice, serve and enjoy!
Variation Ideas
- Bacon - You can cook these tender steaks with different types of bacon.
- Seasoning - We used simple seasoning when cooking steak. Feel Free to add your favorite seasoning. We suggest garlic powder, thyme or any fresh herbs.
- Sauce - Once you remove the steaks from the charcoal grill or gas grill, top with a compound butter. The butter melt as the steaks are resting for delicious flavor.
How long should I grill Filet Mignon?
The best way to test for doneness in a steak is by inserting an instant read thermometer into the thickest part of the steak. Do this through the side, not the top of the steak.

- Cool to warm red center - Rare – 120F
- Warm Red Center - Medium Rare – 130F
- Hot pink center - Medium – 140F
- Mostly brown center - Medium Well – 150F
- Full brown in color - Well Done – 160F
