- 1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin steak thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Teriyaki Sauce:
- 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated OR 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water slurry
For the Garnish:
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
- 2 green onions thinly sliced
Preheat the Blackstone grill over medium-high heat (around 400°F). Drizzle the avocado oil onto the grill and use a spatula to spread it evenly.
Season the sliced beef with salt and pepper. Place the beef slices on the grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until they start to brown. Avoid overcrowding the grill; cook in batches if necessary.
In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, water, apple cider vinegar, granulated sugar, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, and powdered ginger. Stir well until the sugars and ginger are evenly distributed.
Pour the teriyaki sauce mixture over the cooked beef on the grill. Allow it to simmer for a minute. Then add the cornstarch slurry, stirring constantly, to thicken the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, ensuring the beef is well coated and the sauce is thickened.
Remove the beef from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Serve the teriyaki beef garnished with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Enjoy!
- Cornstarch: The amount of slurry can be adjusted depending on how thick you prefer your teriyaki sauce. Start with the recommended amount and add more if a thicker sauce is desired. If you prefer not to use a cornstarch slurry to thicken the teriyaki sauce, consider leaving out the additional water in the sauce ingredients. This will naturally keep the sauce more concentrated and slightly thicker, though not as thick as it would be with the slurry.
- Marinating Option: For more depth of flavor, consider marinating the beef slices in a portion of the teriyaki sauce for 30 minutes to an hour before cooking.
- Sweetness: If you prefer a less sweet teriyaki, reduce the amount of honey and brown sugar slightly.
