Ingredients

  • 4 apples such as Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice optional, for extra warmth
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Chopped pecans for garnish (optional)
  • Oil for brushing the grill and apples

Instructions

  • Wash the apples thoroughly and pat them dry. Cut into thick slices or wedges, about ½ to ¾ inch thick, removing the cores and seeds.
  • Place the apple slices in a bowl of water mixed with the lemon juice and let them soak for about 5 minutes. Drain and pat dry before grilling.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, honey, and cinnamon. Add the allspice if using.
  • Make sure your grill rack is clean and well-oiled. Preheat a gas or charcoal grill (or grill pan) to medium-high heat (400°F).
  • Lightly brush both sides of the apple slices with oil to prevent sticking. Place them directly on the grill and brush the tops with the honey-butter glaze.
  • Grill for about 4 minutes per side, until tender and caramelized with visible grill marks.
  • Brush with more glaze as they cook.
  • Remove from the grill, drizzle with extra honey, sprinkle with cinnamon, and top with chopped pecans if using. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

These are great served as a dessert topped with ice cream or as a side for grilled pork and chicken.
Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days.
They are best served fresh but leftovers are great too. Reheat in the microwave before enjoying the leftovers.
