Ingredients

  • 3 Pounds Short Ribs
  • 3 teaspoons Kosher Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Oil divided
  • 2 Tablespoon Butter

Instructions

  • Preheat the grill over medium high heat (approximately 400 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • Mix together the seasonings. Rub 1 tablespoon of oil onto both sides of the short ribs and then rub this mixture onto both sides of the short ribs.
  • Clean the grill grates and rub the grates with the remaining oil to keep the short ribs from sticking to the grill.
  • Place the short ribs directly on the grill grates. Flip them every 2 minutes until they reach an internal temperature of 130 degrees F (for medium rare).
  • Remove them from the grill and immediately top each one with butter, tent them with  foil and let them rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
  • Slice the short ribs against the grain and then they are ready to serve and enjoy!

Notes

The recipe above is to cook the short ribs to medium rare.  If you prefer your beef cooked differently, continue to cook it in 2 minute increments until it reaches the internal temperature based on the preference you prefer.
Rare – 120F, cool to warm red center
Medium Rare – 130F, Warm red center
Medium – 140F, Hot pink center
Medium Well – 150F, Mostly brown center
Well Done – 160F, full brown in color
Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
You can use any oil with a high smoke point for this recipe. Vegetable, Canola, Avocado or Coconut oil will all work well in this recipe.
