- 2 tablespoons paprika sweet or smoked, depending on preference
- 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt OR 1 1/2 tablespoons fine sea salt or table salt adjust to taste
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar optional, adds a slight sweetness
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust based on heat preference
- 1/2 teaspoon dried mustard powder
In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients thoroughly. Ensure the brown sugar, if using, is well mixed and there are no clumps.
Use immediately to season your burger patties, or store the seasoning mix in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. It should stay fresh for up to 6 months.
When seasoning burgers, sprinkle a generous amount of the mix onto both sides of each patty and gently rub it in.
This seasoning can be used for both beef and turkey burgers. The addition of brown sugar helps in caramelizing the surface of the burger, providing a nice crust when grilled or pan-fried. For a finer texture when using coarse salt, you can pulse the mix in a spice grinder.
Seasons 8-10 burgers.
