Instructions

  • Preheat the Blackstone Grill over medium high heat (approximately 450 degrees F).
  • Place the frozen tater tots directly on one side of  the Blackstone grill in a single layer and heat them for a couple of minutes (moving frequently) to thaw out the tater tots.
  • Season the tater tots with salt.
  • Place the bacon strips on the other side of the grill.
  • Cook the bacon for 3-5 minutes per side (depending on the thickness of the bacon) until the bacon is cooked to the crispiness that you prefer.
  • Only flip the bacon once using tongs during this cooking process. You will know that the bacon is ready to flip because the white fat on the bacon will become translucent and the pink parts of the bacon will be a reddish-brown color.
  • Continue to flip and rotate the tater tots while the bacon cooks.
  • Once the bacon is cooked through, remove from the grill.
  • Scrape some of the bacon grease into the tater tots and gently toss them in the bacon grease for extra flavor.
  • Cook the tater tots for a few more minutes in the bacon grease.
  • While the tater tots are cooking, chop up the cooked bacon into bite size pieces.
  • Remove the tater tots from the grill to a large platter or individual serving plates. Top with the shredded cheese immediately so the heat from the tater tots will melt the cheese.
  • Mix together the sour cream, milk and ranch seasoning until well combined.
  • Drizzle half of this mixture over the tater tots.
  • Sprinkle the chopped bacon and diced green onions on top.
  • Serve the tater tots with the remaining ranch sour cream mixture on the side. Enjoy!

Notes

You can easily use cheddar cheese or shredded monterey jack cheese if you prefer.
I love the addition of the ranch dressing mixture in the sour cream mixture but you can leave it out if you don’t love ranch.
If the cheese is not melting, you can carefully place the platter on the Blackstone grill (if heat resistant) and close the lid to allow the remaining heat from the grill to melt the cheese.
Make sure to use pot holders when removing as the plate will be hot.  These are best served immediately but you can refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
