Step 10 – Mix together the sour cream, milk and ranch seasoning until well combined.

Drizzle of ranch mixture over the top of the shredded cheese and tots

Step 11 – Drizzle half of this mixture over the tater tots. Sprinkle the chopped bacon and diced green onions on top. Serve the tater tots with the remaining ranch sour cream mixture on the side. Enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  • Melting Cheese Tip – If the cheese is not melting, you can carefully place the platter on the Blackstone grill (if heat resistant) and close the lid or cover with aluminum pan or dome to allow the remaining heat from the grill to melt the cheese. Make sure to use pot holders when removing as the plate will be hot.
  • Cooking Bacon – Only flip the bacon once using tongs during this cooking process. You will know that the bacon is ready to flip because the white fat on the bacon will become translucent and the pink parts of the bacon will be a reddish-brown color. If you prefer you can substitute with bacon bits.

Variations Ideas

  • Add Meat – This is a great recipe to make hearty by adding cooked ground beef or ground chicken.
  • Veggies – Add more vegetables such as diced tomatoes, green bell peppers, slice mushrooms, or black olives.
  • Substitute the Tots – If you prefer you can make these crispy tots with French Fries.
  • Spices – We only used salt to season the tots with but feel free to add in your own seasoning. Taco seasoning is a great addition with amazing flavor.

FAQS

What is on Loaded Tater Tots?

Loaded Tater Tots can be topped with your favorite toppings. Our favorites included shredded cheese, a drizzle of ranch dressing mixture, chopped bacon, and chopped green onions. We have even added sliced jalapenos, taco meat – chicken or beef, and black olives.

Do I Need to Thaw Tater Tots before placing on the Griddle?

No, there is no need to thaw the tater tots before preparing this recipe. The Blackstone Griddle cooks the frozen tater tots perfectly.

How to Prevent Tots from Sticking?

Place the layered tots on a hot grill in a single layer. Allow the tots to cook for a few minutes which will allow the tots to thaw. Then continually stir the tots on the griddle to prevent the tots from sticking. If they do begin to stick, you may need to add some high smoke point oil such as a little olive oil, avocado oil or peanut oil and continue cooking.

Storage and Reheating Tips

  • Fridge – These are best served immediately but you can refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Reheating – Reheat the leftovers in the oven to make the tots crispy again. You can also reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes at 350 degrees for amazing results.
