Expert Tips

  • Onions – Make sure the onions are finely sliced so that they cook quickly and evenly.
  • Cooking Patties – Make sure to smash the burger balls firmly and immediately after placing them on the griddle. This will help you achieve the thin, crispy edges typical of smash burgers. Using parchment paper between the spatula and the beef can prevent sticking if needed.
  • Serving Burgers – We like to serve these burger patties with the caramelized onions right off the griddle. Cooking on the large surface allows me to cook several at once.
