Smash Burger Sliders Recipe and Hawaiian Roll Cheeseburger Sliders are delicious and easy to make. The ground beef is seasoned and pressed on the griddle to create a crispy texture. These sliders are juicy, delicious and stacked for a delicious smash burger recipe.

What are Smash Burger Sliders?

Smash Burger Sliders are ground beef that is roll into a 1.5 ounce size balls and then cooked on the griddle. Then place the two mini patties on a bottom bun and topped with your favorite toppings.

They are the perfect size of burgers that are enjoyed by all.

Recipe Variation Ideas

  • Ground Beef – You can use 90/10 or 93/7 for this recipe to lower the fat content.
  • Toppings – Add your favorite toppings such as grilled onions or dill pickles.
  • Cheese Feel free to use different types of cheese.
  • Kings Hawaiian Rolls – We used Hawaiian Rolls, but any type of slider buns will work.

How to Make Smash Burger Sliders on Blackstone Griddle

Step 1 – Prepare Beef – Roll the 2 pounds of ground beef into approximately 1.5 ounce size balls.  Season them with salt and pepper.

Step 2 – Preheat the Griddle – Preheat the Blackstone Grill over high heat. Cut the slider rolls in half. Then place them on the griddle for 2 minutes to toast them. Then place the beef balls on the griddle in the melted butter.

Step 3 – Press with Burger Press – Then top each one with a piece on parchment paper. Then firmly press down to smash the beef into a thin patty. Press the patty either a burger press or a large spatula and discard the parchment paper.

Step 4 – Cook Patties – Cook the patties for 2 minutes. Or until the juices in the beef start to raise to the top and the color starts to change.

Step 5 – Flip Patties – Then scrape under the patty to get under the caramelized parts and flip the patty. Once flipped, do not smash down the patties again.

Step 6 – Top with Cheese – Cook for 1 more minute and place a piece of cheese on the patties to melt. Once the American cheese is melted, place half of the patties on top of the other patties. 

  • Step 7 – Top on Rolls – Then place the patties on the cut side slider rolls (2 patties per slider roll).  
  • Step 8 – Serve – Top with your favorite burger toppings and enjoy these cheeseburger sliders.

Recipe Tips

  • Mixing burger patties – When preparing the balls with the beef, do not pack them together. Loosely roll them into balls so that they are easier to smash.

How to Make Smash Burger Sliders on Stove Top

If you prefer, you can easily prepare these sliders on the stove top. We recommend using a cast iron skillet for a similar crispy texture to cooking on the griddle.

Prepare the hamburger patties as indicated and place on a heated skillet. Cook the patties until cooked.

Place the rolls on a sheet pan and toast them in the oven.

How to Know When Burgers are Finished Cooking

Cooking time will vary depending on the size of your patties. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side to ensure that the patties are fully cooked.

Can I Add Toppings to Sliders?

Yes, after adding the hamburger patties to the buns, then you can add your favorite toppings. We suggest ketchup, mustards, mayonnaise and caramelized onions. Burger sauce is also a great addition.

How to Store Leftover Sliders

Place your leftover sliders in an air tight container for up to 4 days in the refrigerator.

  • 2 ½ pounds Ground Beef 80/20
  • ½ teaspoon Pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons Salted Butter
  • 12 Slices Cheddar Cheese
  • 12 Slider Rolls or Hawaiian Rolls

Instructions

  • Roll the beef into approximately 1.5 ounce size balls.  Season them with salt and pepper.
  • Preheat the Blackstone Grill over high heat (approximately 400 degrees F).
  • Cut the slider rolls in half and place them on the griddle for 2 minutes to toast them and then set them aside while you prepare the beef.
  • Place the remaining butter on the griddle. Move it around to melt it. Then place the beef balls on the griddle in the melted butter. Then top each one with a piece on parchment paper and then firmly press down to smash the beef into a thin patty with either a burger press or a large spatula and discard the parchment paper.
  • Cook the patties for 2 minutes until the juices in the beef start to raise to the top and the color starts to change. Then scrape under the patty to get under the caramelized parts and flip the patty. Once flipped, do not smash down the patties again. Cook for 1 more minute and place a piece of cheese on the patties to melt. Once the cheese is melted, place half of the patties on top of the other patties.
  • Then place the patties on the slider rolls (2 patties per slider roll).
  • Top with your favorite burger toppings and enjoy!
