What is Fried Rice?

We love making Fried Rice as it is complete meal. Fried Rice is a dish of cooked rice that is cooked in a Wok, Frying Pan or a Griddle. It is mixed with chopped carrots and peas, scrambled egg, and either shrimp, chicken, or pork.

It can be served as a main dish or served as a side dish. Chicken Fried Rice is a family favorite. We love making this with our leftover rice and chicken or other types of meats.

Why We Love this Recipe:

  • Use Leftover Rice – If you have leftover rice, this is a great recipe to use it in. We recommend that the rice be cold as it prevents it from getting mushy.
  • Blackstone Heat – When combining the ingredients on the griddle, the rice gets crispy just as if it was cooked at a restaurant.
  • Tender Shrimp – We love the flavors of the shrimp when it is cooked on the griddle. Adding it towards the end, prevents it from overcooking.

Recipe Tips

  • Use Leftover Rice – I find that it’s best to use leftover rice for this recipe. Make sure that the rice is cold as it’s easier to sauté on the grill when it’s cold.
  • Refrigerate Leftovers – This recipe is best served fresh but you can refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • Top with Green Onions – I love topping the shrimp fried rice with sliced green onions before serving.
  • Shrimp – We recommend buying shrimp that is already peeled and deveined.
  • Top with Green Onions – I love topping the shrimp fried rice with sliced green onions before serving.
  • Work Fast – The Blackstone grill is hotter than a traditional skillet, so work fast to avoid the griddle from burning.
  • Use Different Oil – You can easily use avocado oil, canola oil or coconut oil instead of the vegetable oil in this recipe.
  • Change the Protein – You can change the protein to salmon, shrimp, pork are all great option.
  • Gluten Free – If you want to make this gluten free, use Cauliflower Rice.
