Variations Ideas

  • Meat – Feel free to substitute the ground beef for ground turkey. You can also use a combination of both.
  • Veggies – We usually use a peas and carrots combination for the vegetable addition. But this is a great recipe to add in any leftover veggies that you have in the fridge. Garlic, Chopped broccoli and shredded zucchini are great options.
  • Soy Sauce – Substitute low sodium soy sauce with coconut aminos for a gluten-free option.
  • Oil – We used vegetable oil to oil the griddle, but you can also use avocado oil or butter.

Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1 – Preheat the Blackstone grill over medium low heat (approximately 350 degrees F). Add the vegetable oil onto the griddle and use your spatula to spread it around.

Step 2 – Place the ground beef on the grill on top of the vegetable oil and sauté (breaking it up as it cooks) until the beef is cooked through (4-6 minutes). Push the ground beef to a cooler side of the grill.

Cooked scrambled eggs on the griddle

Step 3 – Scramble the eggs on the griddle. Move the eggs to the cooler side of the griddle with the vegetables.

White Rice on the griddle

Step 4 – Then pour the cooked rice onto the griddle and top it with the sesame oil, soy sauce, salt and pepper.

Recipe Tips

  • Leftover Rice – Anytime we make fried rice it is best made with day-old rice.
  • Ground Beef – We cooked our ground beef on the griddle. But you can also make this recipe with leftover ground beef. Just heat it on the griddle and then follow the remainder of the recipe.
  • Vegetables – If using fresh vegetables, make sure to cut them about the same size so they cook evenly.
