How to Make Blackened Chicken on the Blackstone

Step 1 – Slice the chicken breasts in half lengthwise.

Step 2 – Mix together the seasonings in a small bowl. Place the chicken filets on a plate.

Step 3 – Rub 1 tablespoon of the vegetable oil onto both sides of the chicken breasts

Step 4 – Spoon the blackening mixture over the chicken piece and spread it around with a basting brush.

Step 5 – Preheat the Blackstone grill over high heat (approximately 400 degrees F). Spread the remaining vegetable oil onto the grill.

Step 6 – Place the chicken on the Blackstone grill on top of the oil. Cook for 4-6 minutes until browned. Flip the chicken, cook for 5-6 more minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F with a meat thermometer.
- Step 7 – Remove the chicken from the grill and allow chicken rest to sit for 10 minutes. Serve warm and enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Prepare Chicken – We recommend slicing the chicken about the same size so that it cooks evenly and about the same time.
- Cooking Time – When cooking chicken, we always recommend using a instant-read thermometer to ensure that the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. Cooking time will vary depending on the size of your chicken.
- Heat Blackstone – For the best sear, make sure to preheat the griddle and oil the flat top. You can also cook in a cast iron pan.
Variations Ideas
- Change Chicken – Feel free to make this recipe with skinless chicken thighs or chicken tenders.
- Spice Level – This Blackened Chicken Recipe has a hint of spice. But if you prefer to dial down the heat, you can omit the cayenne pepper. Add more if you prefer spicier. You can even use black pepper.
