Can you Cook Sweet Potatoes on a Blackstone Griddle?

Yes, you can cook frozen fries on the Blackstone. I really like them on the grill as it is easy side dish to add when I am cooking other things. It makes for an easy cleanup and they come out perfectly crispy.

Seasoning Ideas

  • Parmesan Cheese – Once they are finished cooking, sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  • Cayenne Pepper – If you want a little kick to the fries, sprinkle on some cayenne pepper on the fries.
  • Other Dry Seasoning – Other seasoning blends to add are Italian Seasoning, Cajun Seasoning, or Taco Seasoning.
  • Sweet Fries – When Fries are finished cooking, sprinkle with some brown sugar.

How to Cook Sweet Potato Fries on Blackstone 

  • Step 1 – Prepare Oven – Preheat your Blackstone griddle over medium low heat to approximately 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2 – Oil the Griddle – Spread the vegetable oil onto the griddle and use the spatula to spread the oil out evenly onto the griddle.

  • Step 3 – Add fries to griddle – Then put the frozen sweet potato slices onto the griddle in a single layer. 
  • Step 4 – Add Fries Slowly to Griddle – Slowly put the fries on the griddle as you don’t want to put a ton of frozen ingredients on the griddle at once or it could cause the griddle to warp.

  • Step 5 – Cook Fries – Cook the Sweet Potato fries for 2-3 minutes without flipping them (you can close the lid if your griddle has one) until the fries are golden brown.

  • Step 5 – Flip Fries – Then flip the fries and cook them for 2-3 more minutes until all sides of the fries are golden brown. Make sure potatoes are tender before removing.
  • Step 6 – Season, Serve and Enjoy – Season the fries with the salt and pepper. Toss and coat fries with seasoning. Then they are ready to enjoy!

Why Are My Sweet Potato Fries Not Crispy?

When adding the sweet potato fries to the griddle, make sure you add them in a single layer. Make sure that the fries are not touching when adding to the griddle.

Slowly add the fries and cook in batches if you need to.
