  • Step 7 – Let it cook for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened and the chicken is cooked through.
  • Step 8 – Remove the chicken and vegetables from the grill to a separate platter. Serve as is or over rice topped with the sliced green onions. Enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  • High Smoke Point Oil – Any oil with a high smoke point can work for this recipe. I love using avocado oil but vegetable oil, coconut oil or canola oil would all work.
  • Stirring Ingredients – Once the sauce has been added to the griddle, make sure to toss the mixture, to prevent the soy sauce from burning onto the grill.
  • Prepare Chicken – Dice the chicken about the same size pieces so it cooks evenly and about the same time.
  • Clean Blackstone – Learn How to Clean Blackstone Griddle with these simple tips.

Flavor Variations

  • Tropical Flavor – Add in 1 cup of diced pineapple plus 2 tbsp of the juice for amazing flavor.
  • Spicy – If you prefer a hint of spice, double the red pepper flakes plus the addition of 1 tbsp of sriracha sauce makes it extra spicy.
  • Vegetables – Feel free to ad more veggies or vegetables of your choice to make this dish your own. We often will toss in vegetables that we have leftover from the week

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Difference between Teriyaki Chicken and Bourbon Chicken?

The main difference is their sauce flavor. Teriyaki chicken is glazed with a sweet and savory sauce that has a main ingredient of soy sauce and mirin. Bourbon Chicken is made with chicken broth and soy sauce but is often made spicy.

Does the Alcohol Cook Off?

Yes, as the sauce cooks on the hot griddle about 85% of the alcohol evaporates off.

Can I Make on the Stovetop?

Yes, this is the perfect recipe on the stovetop. We recommend cooking in a cast iron skillet as it keeps the temperature balance as it cooks. Which is similar to how the Blackstone Griddle cooks this dish.

Storage and Reheating Tips

  • Fridge – Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
  • Freezer – Place the leftovers in a freezer safe container and store for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight when ready to serve.
  • Reheat – You can easily reheat on the griddle, stovetop or in the microwave.
