- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 cup green onions finely chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
In a medium bowl, whisk together pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until the sugar is dissolved.
Add minced garlic, grated ginger, red pepper flakes, green onions, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
Place your steak in a non-reactive dish or a large ziplock bag.
Pour the marinade over the steak, making sure it's evenly coated.
If using a dish, cover with plastic wrap. If using a bag, seal it, removing as much air as possible.
Refrigerate and marinate for at least 2 hours, or up to 8 hours for more flavor.
Before cooking, remove the steak from the marinade and pat dry with paper towels.
Discard the used marinade.
The pineapple juice has enzymes that break down the meat and tenderize it, so don’t marinate it for more than 8 hours or it might get too mushy.
If you prefer a sweeter marinade, you can add an extra tablespoon of brown sugar.
