- 2 pounds Lean Ground Beef
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt
- 3/4 tsp Pepper
- 2 Ripe Fresh Avocados sliced
- 6 Lettuce Leaves
- 1 Onion sliced
- 2 Tomatoes sliced
- 6 Hamburger Buns
Divide 2 pounds lean ground beef into 6 even balls, approximately ⅓ pound each. Form the balls into patties that are approximately 4 inches wide and 1 inch thick.
Season the patties with 1 ½ teaspoons salt and ¾ teaspoon pepper. Place the patties in the refrigerator, covered in plastic wrap, while you preheat the grill.
Preheat the Grill over medium high heat (approximately 450-500 degrees F). Rub 1 tablespoon oil on the grill grates to prevent the patties from sticking.
Place the patties on the grill over direct heat. Cook for 4-8 minutes (flipping the patties halfway through the cook time) depending on how you like your burger cooked (see notes). Use an instant-read meat thermometer to make sure that the burgers are cooked to your preference.
Place 6 hamburger buns on the grill and cook for 1 minute until lightly browned. Watch them closely so they do not burn.
Add 6 lettuce leaves and 1 sliced onion to the bottom buns.
Remove the beef patties from the grill and place them on top of the lettuce. Top each patty with 2 sliced tomatoes and 2 sliced ripe fresh avocados.
Serve warm and enjoy.
Here are the internal temperatures needed based on how you like your burgers prepared.
Rare Burgers - 125 degrees F
Medium-Rare Burgers - 135 degrees F
Medium Burgers - 145 degrees F
Well-Done Burgers - 160 degrees F
Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Use any oil with a high smoke point. Vegetable oil, canola oil, coconut oil or avocado oil will all work great in this recipe.
