What Temperature Should Turkey Burgers be Grilled on?

When grilling turkey burgers, we recommend preheating grill to medium high heat. If using a gas grill, I like the temperature to reach about 400 degrees before placing the burgers on the grill.

Make sure to oil the grill grates before placing the burgers on the grill. This helps to easily flip the burgers.

Recipe Tips:

  • Prepare Grill – Before placing the turkey burgers on the grill, make sure it is preheated and oiled.
  • Combining the Ingredients – For best results we like to combine the ingredients with our hands. This helps to make sure everything is combined completely.
  • Divide Mixture – When preparing the turkey patties, make sure you divide the meat mixture evenly. This ensures that the burgers cook evenly and about the same time.
  • Indent Patties – To help cook the patties evenly, gently press your thumb in the middle of the patty.

What to Serve with Turkey Burgers?

Turkey Burgers are delicious served with many different side dishes. You can easily prepare the side dishes on the grill or made some indoors. Try out one of these side dishes to complete your meal.

  • Sweet Potato Fries
  • Potato salad
  • Garden Salad
  • Roasted Vegetables

Variation Ideas:

  • Seasoning – Feel free to change the seasoning when making these burgers. You can add in different spices or fresh herbs. I have even added in a teaspoons Worcestershire sauce for added flavor.
  • Bread Crumbs – We love adding in bread crumbs for added flavor. It helps to keep the patty together for a twist on a classic recipe.
  • Make Greek Burger – For the ultimate burger experience add in dried oregano to the turkey mixture. Zest in some lemon for a hint of lemon flavor. Then you can serve with a Greek style salad full of tomatoes and cucumber.
  • Oil Option to Use – Use any oil with a high smoke point. Vegetable oil, canola oil, coconut oil or avocado oil will all work great in this recipe.
  • Add Cheese to the Turkey Burger – This turkey burger would be delicious with a slice of cheese. Feel free to use different types of cheeses.

How to Store Leftovers:

Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days. You can also place the cooked turkey burger in the freezer if you have a lot leftover. The freeze really well and make for a quick weeknight dinner.

When you are ready to reheat, we recommend reheating in the air fryer for best results.
