Grill Brussel Sprouts are full of so much flavor that even your pickiest eater will eat them. The bacon cooks crispy and the Brussel Sprouts cook tender.

Simple ingredients and easy to make makes this sweet and savory side dish or appetizer year round. You may even like these Grilled Jalapeno Poppers.

Brussel sprouts, salt, pepper, bacon, brown sugar

Variations Ideas

  • Seasoning – You can easily change or substitute the seasoning if you prefer. You can add garlic powder, onion powder or more.
  • Bacon – When choosing the strips of bacon, you can use any kind. If you prefer you can also use turkey bacon. Just make sure to cut into smaller pieces.
  • Serving – I like to serve this appetizer during the holiday season. It is a perfect to serve at Christmas or New Years Eve. Serve with BBQ Sauce, Maple Syrup or Ranch as dipping sauces.
  • Skewers – We have even made this appetizer on skewers. I usually choose smaller brussel sprouts to add to skewers.

Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1 – Soak Toothpicks – Soak toothpicks in water for a few hours before using them. This is to keep them from burning on the grill. 
  • Step 2 – Heat Grill – Preheat the grill over medium heat (approximately 300 degrees Fahrenheit).

Step 3 – Cut the Brussel Sprouts – Cut the ends off of the Brussel sprouts. Remove any yellowing leaves from the Brussel sprouts and season them with salt and pepper.

Step 4 – Prepare Bacon – Cut the thin cut bacon in half. Wrap each brussel sprout with a piece of the bacon. Then secure it to the brussel sprout with a soaked toothpick. Place the brown sugar in a small shallow bowl. Then dip each of the wrapped brussel sprouts in the brown sugar.

Step 5 – Place on Grill – Then place the brussel sprouts on the grill over indirect heat.  Cover the grill and cook for 45-60 minutes.

Step 7 – Grill all Sides – Rotate the brussel sprouts every 10-15 minutes to keep them from burning. Then continue to cook until the bacon is crispy and the brussel sprouts are tender. 

  • Step 8 – Serve and enjoy – Remove the brussel sprouts from the grill.  Let them cool slightly and then they are ready to serve and enjoy. 

Recipe Tips

  • Toothpick – We recommend soak toothpick in water to prevent easy appetizer bacon wrapped brussels sprouts from burning.
  • Prepare Brussel Sprouts – Trim and cut the yellow leaves from the brussel sprouts. When buying brussel sprouts I look for ones that are not damaged and are firm.
  • Cut Bacon – Cut bacon in halves or thirds to evenly wrap around the Brussel Sprouts.
  • Wrapping the Brussel Sprouts – When we wrap the brussel sprouts with bacon, we like to wrap it one time around. This allows for the bacon to get completely cook and get crispy.
  • Grilling – While grilling the brussel sprouts make to sure to rotate. This allows all sides to cook crispy and tender.

Can I Make in the Oven?

Yes. this recipes works great in the oven. Roasted brussel sprouts makes a delicious side dish. We have even made these in the air fryer for a quick and easy side dish.

  • Place the prepared bacon wrapped Brussel Sprouts on a baking sheet.
  • Then bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees.
  • Bake for about 30 minutes or until the vegetable is tender and bacon is crispy. You may even need to broil them.

How to Store Leftovers

These Brussel sprouts wrapped in bacon are best served fresh but you can refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
