Easy Blackstone Cheese Stuffed Burgers:

This stuffed burger recipe is the ultimate burger recipe. We love making cheeseburger on the griddle, but this recipe has now become our favorite.

Stuffing burgers with cheese is an easy process and creates a juicy, delicious burger. You may have heard this burger called Juicy Lucy burger, because the stuffed cheese.

If you are looking for delicious burger to serve at your next BBQ, make this cheesy burger. You friends and family will be impressed how every bite is loaded with cheese.

What is in a Juicy Lucy Burger?

The Juicy Lucy Burger can be made in many different ways. A traditional cheeseburger is made with the slice of cheese melted on top.

But a Juicy Lucy burger is made with the cheese stuffed inside. This burger taste amazing and can be served with all your favorite toppings.

Ingredients needed to make cheese stuffed burgers

Ingredients: 

  • Lean Ground Beef
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Worcestershire sauce 
  • Garlic Powder 
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese 
  • Butter 
  • Lettuce Leaves
  • Onion sliced
  • Tomatoes sliced
  • Hamburger Buns
  • Condiments of your Choice: Ketchup, Mustard or Mayonnaise 

How to Make Cheese Stuffed Burger on a Blackstone Griddle: 

  • Step 1 – Heat Grill – Preheat the Blackstone Grill over medium high heat (approximately 400 degrees F).
  • Step 2 – Combine Seasoning with beef – Mix the ground beef, teaspoon salt and pepper. Then add in Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder together in a bowl. You can even add in paprika.
  • Step 3 – Divide beef – Divide the ground beef into 6 even balls (approximately ⅓ lb each).

  • Step 4 – Split the Beef Balls – Divide each ball in half and form into two thin patties.  Place approximately 2-3 tablespoons of the shredded cheese in the center of one patty and then top with the other patty.  Seal the edges by pinching them together.

  • Step 5 – Melt Butter – Melt the butter onto the Blackstone Grill and spread it around. 
  • Step 6 – Place patties on griddle – Place the ground beef patties on the Blackstone grill on the butter.  
  • Step 7 – Press Patties Flat – Gently press flat onto the Blackstone Grill making sure that you do not expose the cheese.  Do not smash it all the way down but just press slightly to form a burger patty.
  • Step 8 – Cook Patties – Cook the patties for 3-5 minutes on each side.
  • Step 9 – Flip Burgers – Flip the burgers and cook until burgers are cooked through (3-4 more minutes).
  • Step 10 – Remove from grill – Remove the patties from the grill.

  • Step 11 – Toast Buns – Place the buns on the grill, cut side down for approximately 1 minute until browned.  Remove the buns from the grill. 
  • Step 12 – Add toppings – Add a lettuce leaf and onions to the bottom bun of each bun.
  • Step 13 – Top with beef – Add beef to each of the hamburger buns on top of the lettuce.

  • Step 14 – Serve and Enjoy – Then top each patty with the lettuce, tomatoes and condiments of your choice.  Serve warm and enjoy!

What is the Best Cheese to use?

You can use any type of cheese or brand that you prefer. We do recommend grating the cheese yourself instead of using pre-shredded cheese.

Try some of these options:

  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • American Cheese
  • Swiss Cheese

Can I Make on the Stovetop?

Yes, you can make this smash burger on a cast iron skillet or regular pan over medium heat. Combine the beef with the seasoning mixture in a large bowl.

Then stuff the burger with the cheese and cook until burger is cooked through.

Place your favorite toppings on the top of the bun and add your hamburger patty. Top the burger with slice tomato, pickles, and caramelized onions for delicious flavor.

How Long to Cook Cheese Stuffed Burger:

These smash burger do not take long when cooked on a heated griddle. You will cook the burgers for about 5 minutes on each side. The melted cheese will be ooey, gooey and so delicious.

Variation Ideas:

  • Change the Meat – Feel free to change the meat to ground turkey. You can also combine ground beef and ground turkey.
  • Add Bacon – For added flavor, add pork bacon to the burger.
  • Change the Buns – Feel free to use any type of buns in this recipe. We like using brioche buns or hamburger buns.

  • Cooking Burgers – Make sure to preheat the griddle and oil it with olive oil. Gently press the burger balls down to flatten. This helps to cook the burgers evenly.
