Variations Ideas
- Toppings – This burger is even better with your favorite toppings. We recommend adding lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise and caramelized onions.
- Cheese – We used American cheese in this recipe but feel free to use the cheese of your choice. Cheddar cheese is another delicious variation.
- Meat – If you prefer you can use ground turkey or a combination of ground turkey and ground beef.
Step by Step Instructions
- Step 1 – Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Step 2 – In a large bowl, combine ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, kosher salt, and black pepper. Mix the ingredients thoroughly without overworking the meat.
Step 3 – Divide the seasoned ground beef into 8 equal portions and flatten each portion into thin patties.
Step 4 – Take 4 of the patties and place 2 quarters of cheese in the center of each patty.
Step 5 – Place the remaining 4 patties on top of the cheese-topped patties, and pinch the edges together to
seal, ensuring the cheese is completely enclosed within the meat.
Step 6 – Brush the grill grates with avocado oil to prevent sticking, then place the burgers on the grill.
Step 7 – Grill the burgers for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of
doneness and the cheese is melted inside.
- Step 8 – Toast the hamburger buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes.
- Step 9 – Assemble the burgers on the buns, adding your favorite toppings.
Recipe Tips
- Prepare Burgers – Make sure you seal those patties tight around the edges. It’s all about keeping that cheese locked in and contained as it melts.
- Ground Beef – I recommend using 80/20 blend of beef.
- Prepare Grill – For best results, oil the grill grates with avocado oil or vegetable oil. This will help the patties from sticking to the grill.
