Ingredients - apples, lemon juice, water, olive oil, butter, honey, cinnamon, brown sugar
  • Apples – Use a firm apple that is without bruising for best results.
  • Lemon Juice – This keeps the apples from turning brown.
  • Olive Oil – Use oil of your choice. We like avocado oil or vegetable oil
  • Honey – Maple syrup is a great substitute
  • Ground Cinnamon – You can other types of spices such as nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice

How to Make Grilled Apples

  • Step 1 – Preheat a grill over medium high heat (approximately 350 degrees Fahrenheit). 
  • Step 2 – Core the apples and slice them into approximately 1/4-½ inch thick slices (rings).

  • Step 3 – Stir together the water and lemon juice in a large bowl.  Add the apple rings and let them soak to prevent browning.

  • Step 4 – Remove the apples from the water and pat them dry with paper towels. 
  • Step 5 – Rub the oil on the grill grates to prevent the apples from sticking to the grill. 
  • Step 6 – Place the apple slices directly on the grill and cook for 4-6 minutes until they start to brown.  Turn the apples and cook them for 4-5 minutes on the other side as well.

  • Step 7 – While the apples are cooking, place the butter, honey, ground cinnamon and brown sugar in a microwave safe bowl.

  • Step 8 – Microwave for 30 seconds, stir and continue to microwave in 30 second intervals until the butter is melted and all ingredients are combined.  
  • Step 9 – Rub this mixture onto the apple slices while still on the grill.  Flip them and cook for 1-2 minutes.  Rub the opposite side of the apples with the mixture and cook for 1-2 more minutes.

  • Step 10 – Remove from heat.  Serve warm and enjoy!

  • Prepare Apples – Don’t skip soaking the apples in the water and lemon juice mixture as this prevents the apples from browning. 
  • Apple CorerIt is best to make this recipe with a apple corer but you can also slice the apples with a knife.
  • Foil Packets – If you prefer, you can slice apples and top with the seasoning and place in foil. Then grill the apples in the aluminum foil packets for a delicious variations. You can also bake these slice apples in the oven for about 20-25 minutes.
