How to Make Ham Steak in the Smoker

  • Step 1 – Preheat the smoker to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2 – While the grill is preheating, whisk together the brown sugar, dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar and garlic powder together in a small bowl.

Step 3 – Place the ham steaks in the smoker directly on the grill grates.

Step 4 – Smoke the ham steaks for 30 minutes.

Step 5 – Brush the brown sugar glaze mixture on both sides of the ham steak with a basting brush.

  • Step 6 – Smoke the ham steaks for 30 more minutes once the glaze is rubbed onto the ham steak.  
  • Step 7 – Remove the ham steaks from the smoker, serve while warm and enjoy!

  • Caramelized Glaze – If you want the glaze on the ham steak to be caramelized, after smoking place the ham steaks under the broiler for a few minutes. Watch it closely so that it does not burn. 
  • Cut Ham – You can cut your ham steaks yourself, but I prefer to just buy them pre-sliced into ½ inch thick slices. If they are not sold that way at your local grocery store, the butcher should be able to cut them for you.
