Variations Ideas

  • Peanut Butter – Instead of using the Nutella spread creamy peanut butter on the pizza dough for peanut butter s’mores pizza.
  • Pizza Dough – We used pre-made pizza dough but you can make homemade pizza dough. Combine all purpose flour, yeast, warm water and more.
  • Chocolate Bars – Instead of chocolate chips you can use Hershey’s Bar instead cut into small pieces. Feel free to use other flavors of chocolate chips such as dark chocolate or milk chocolate chips.
  • Tortilla – If prefer and for a smaller size, use a tortilla instead. This size would be perfect for a smaller grill like a charcoal grill.
  • Chocolate Syrup – Feel free to change the melted chocolate with caramel syrup. You can also drizzle the top with honey.
  • Other Topping Ideas – Brush the crust with melted butter and add brown sugar mixture over the top.
  • Cookies – We like using the traditional graham crackers, but you can use any type of cookie. We love the crunch and the texture that the graham crackers give the pizza.

How to Make S’mores on the Grill

  • Step 1 – Heat Grill – Preheat the grill over medium high heat (approximately 450 degrees F).
  • Step 2 – Roll Dough – Roll the dough into a 12 inch circle with a rolling pin on a lightly floured platter or surface. We try to make it about ¼ inch thickness.

  • Step 3 – Poke Holes – Use a fork to poke holes all over the center of the pizza dough. This is to keep it from bubbling in the oven.

  • Step 4 – Top dough with oil – Rub the grill grates with the olive oil. This keeps the dough from sticking to the grill.
  • Step 5 – Place pizza on grill – Use a flour baking sheet to place the pizza dough directly on the grill.  Close the lid and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned.

  • Step 6 – Flip Dough – Flip the pizza dough so that the grilled side is up. We recommend using tongs or a spatula to flip pizza dough.
  • Step 7 – Spread Nutella – Spread the chocolate hazelnut spread onto the pizza crust . Leaving a gap around the edge for the crust.

  • Step 8 – Top with Crushed Graham Cracker Pieces – Then sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs on top.  Top with the cup mini marshmallows and milk chocolate chips.

  • Step 9 – Cook Pizza Smores – Close the lid on the hot grill and cook for 1-2 minutes. Cook until the bottom of the crust is golden brown and the marshmallows start to puff up slightly.
  • Step 10 – Remove from Grill – Carefully remove from the outdoor grill.  Let the pizza sit for a few minutes.  Drizzle the chocolate sauce on top.
  • Step 11 – Serve and Enjoy – Slice, serve and enjoy.

Tips for Smores Dessert Pizza on the Grill

  • Pizza Dough – Roll dough out after removing from can. Roll the dough on a floured surface then place dough on cookie sheet. Combine ingredients in a large bowl and the cook.
  • Poke Holes – Make sure to poke holes in pizza dough to prevent the dough from bubbling.
  • Prepare Grill – Make sure to preheat the grill to medium heat or medium high heat. Oil the grill grates to prevent the pizza dough from sticking to the grill.
  • Grilling Smores – After adding the toppings to the cooked dough, grill the smores with a closed lid.
