Recipe Tips:
- Onions – We love to top our pub burger with caramelized onions. These onions are easy to make in a skillet to add flavor to the burgers.
- Prepare the Grill – We recommend preheating the grill and oiling the grill grates. This helps to prevent the burger patties from sticking to the grill.
- Meat Thermometer – Use an instant-read meat thermometer to make sure that the beef is cooked. The burger needs to cook to a safe temperature before eating.
Substitutions and Additions:
- Ground Beef – We used ground beef in this recipe but you can substitute with ground chuck.
- Onions – Feel free to substitute the sliced onions to what you prefer. We have made it with white onion, red onion and yellow onion.
- Add Bacon – Add strips of applewood bacon for the perfect flavor combination. Cook the bacon ahead of time to easily add to your burger.
- Avocado – I love making avocado burgers and this pub burger is delicious with the slice avocados.
- Additional Toppings – This burger is amazing topped cheddar and caramelized onions. But you can also add lettuce, tomato and more.
- Stovetop – If you prefer you make these burgers indoors. We recommend making them in a cast iron skillet for the best results.
