Recipe and Variations Ideas

  • Type of Tortilla – I like to use 12 inch size tortillas for this recipe.  They are often called Burrito size tortillas.
  • Burrito Filling – You can easily omit any toppings you don’t want or add in your favorites to make this burrito your own. Try it by adding in chopped onion, tomatoes, or black beans. Make sure to not overfill so the tortilla stays intact.
  • Slicing the Meat – Cutting across the grain keeps steak tender in every bite.
  • Make Ahead – To prepare this dish ahead of time, marinate and cook the meat and store in the fridge.

Serving Suggestions

Carne Asada Burritos is delicious served with Cilantro Lime Rice Recipe, Best Mexican White Cheese Dip Recipe and Tortilla Chips for a complete meal idea.

We love to top with Homemade Guacamole, Salsa, hot sauce and Sour Cream for even more flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Type of Meat is Best?

I love using flank steak or skirt steak in this recipe but sirloin steak or round steak will work as well.

How to Store Leftover Carne Asada Burritos

Refrigerate all the ingredients separately in individual, sealed containers for up to 5 days. Assemble the burritos right before serving.

How to Reheat

You can reheat the meat in the microwave or in the oven until heated thoroughly.

Can I Freeze Carne Asada Burritos?

You can freeze the prepared carne asada burritos in a freezer safe container. If you decide to freeze the burritos, I would leave out the pico de gallo. Wrap the burritos individually with plastic wrap and aluminum foil then thaw in the fridge overnight when ready to serve.
