How to Make Grilled Bananas

  • Step 1 – Preheat the grill over medium high heat (approximately 350 degrees Fahrenheit).

Step 2 – Cut the bananas in half lengthwise with the peels still on.

Step 3 – Brush each half of the banana with the melted butter on the cut side.

Step 4 –In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.

Step 5 – Place the cut side of each banana with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.

  • Step 6 – Brush the grill grates with the olive oil to keep the bananas from sticking. 
  • Step 7 – Place the bananas, cut side down, on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes. 
  • Step 8 – Flip the bananas, peel side down, and grill for 3-4 more minutes until browned and the banana starts to pull away from the peel. 
  • Step 9 – Remove from the grill.  Serve as is or remove the peels from the bananas and serve warm.  Enjoy!

  • Choosing Bananas – Firm bananas are easier to grill so choose bananas that are not quite ripe for this recipe for the best results.  
  • Prepare Bananas – Slice the unpeeled bananas so the bananas lay flat this makes it easier to grill. It is best to grill bananas with the grill on.
  • Cooking Time – Grilling time will vary based on your grill. We placed the bananas directly on the grill grates but you can also grill in a grill pan.
