  • Wing Sauce – We love to baste the wings with this delicious homemade sauce but you can also change it to what you prefer. You can add in hot sauce or sriracha to add some kick to the sauce. Barbecue sauce is also a great addition to these grilled chicken wings.
  • Wings – You can usually buy fresh chicken wings at the grocery store in the meat market. But you can also cut them from a whole chicken.

Step by Step Instructions

  • Step 1 – Preheat the grill over medium heat (approximately 400 degrees Fahrenheit) and rub the grill grates with oil to prevent the chicken wings from sticking to the grill.
  • Step 2 – Dry the chicken as much as possible and then coat the chicken with salt and pepper.

  • Step 3 – Place the chicken wings on the grill over direct heat.  Cover and cook for 15 minutes – 20 minutes flipping them every 2-3 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

  • Step 4 – Mix the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl.  Baste the chicken wings with the sauce and grill them for 2-3 minutes per side to caramelize the sauce slightly.

  • Prepare Grill Grates – Make sure to preheat the grill prior to adding the chicken wings. Use an oil with a high heat rate to oil the grill gates. Avocado oil, olive oil, vegetable or coconut oil all work great.
  • Cooking Chicken Wings – Cooking time will vary depending on your grill and the size of your chicken wings. Make sure to flip the wings to make sure all size cook. Place the chicken wings in a single layer on the grill. Make sure to use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken wings are cooked through before serving.
