Ingredients

Ingredients needed - salmon, avocado oil, sesame seeds, green onions, brown sugar, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, ginger, cornstarch, salt and pepper
  • Salmon Filets – We like buying fresh, but you can also use frozen salmon. Just thaw before grilling.
  • Avocado Oil – You can also use olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Brown Sugar – You can also use honey or maple syrup

How to Grill Teriyaki Salmon

Step 1 – Combine Teriyaki Marinade Ingredients – Whisk the sauce ingredients together in a small mixing bowl.

Step 2 – Marinate the Salmon – Place the salmon filets in a large zip lock bag.  Pour half of the sauce into the bag with the salmon and reserve the remaining sauce.  Marinade the salmon for at least 1 hour.

Step 3 – Prepare Grill – Preheat the grill over medium high heat and rub oil on the grill. Place the salmon on the grill over direct heat.  Cook for 4-6 minutes per side until the salmon is cooked through

Step 4 – Step 5 – Serve and Enjoy – Heat the remaining sauce in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Whisk and heat until the sauce thickens (7-9 minutes).  Brush the glaze over the grilled salmon and top with the sesame seeds and diced onions.  Enjoy! 

Expert Tips

  • Marinate Salmon – Combine the teriyaki sauce and allow the salmon to marinate for about an hour. This will enhance the flavor of the salmon.
  • Cooking Salmon – Make sure to prepare the grill by heating on a hot grill and oiling the grates. This will prevent the salmon from sticking to the grill.
  • Check for doneness – You will know when the salmon fillets is done when the center is flaky. We recommend testing with a fork. You can also check the internal temperature, which should reach 145 degrees.

How to Cook on the Stovetop

Teriyaki Salmon can be made indoors. You can use a griddle pan, or a skillet to cook this salmon as well. The results are a perfectly cook salmon with simple ingredients.

  • Marinate Salmon with the Teriyaki Sauce in a small bowl.
  • Place Salmon on the skillet that has been preheated with cooking oil over medium heat. Start by placing the salmon skin side down.
  • Cook the Salmon for about 5 minutes on each side.
  • Heat the teriyaki sauce in a sauce pan and pour the sauce over the cooked salmon.

For the Salmon:

  • 4 Salmon Filets
  • 1 Tablespoon Avocado Oil
  • 2 Tablespoons Sesame Seeds for topping
  • 2 Stalks Green Onions diced for topping

Instructions

  • Whisk the sauce ingredients together in a small mixing bowl.
  • Place the salmon filets in a large zip lock bag.  Pour half of the sauce into the bag with the salmon and reserve the remaining sauce.  Marinade the salmon for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat the grill over medium high heat (approximately 400 degrees F) and rub the grill grates with oil or spray with non-stick cooking spray to keep the salmon from sticking to the grill.
  • Place the salmon on the grill over direct heat.  Cook for 4-6 minutes per side until the salmon is cooked through and the salmon flakes easily. Remove from the grill.
  • Heat the remaining sauce in a small saucepan over medium high heat.  Whisk and heat until the sauce thickens (7-9 minutes).  Brush the glaze over the grilled salmon and top with the sesame seeds and diced onions.  Enjoy!
