Blackstone Fish Tacos Recipe:

Fish Tacos on Blackstone griddle is easy to make on the flat top griddle. The fish are quick to cook on the Blackstone and are light, flavorful and delicious. Blackstone Griddle Recipes are a family favorite and this one is always requested.

Fish Tacos take just a few minutes on the griddle. Making them a quick lunch or easy dinner idea. Topping the fish with easy sauce and the cabbage slaw makes the tacos so eye pleasing.

Cooking the Tilapia on the griddle allows for it to have a crispy texture while staying juicy on the inside. There are many seafood recipes to try on the Blackstone, but this one is always a crowd favorite.

What Fish is Best for Fish Tacos?

In this recipe we used Fresh Tilapia Filets. We recommend fresh fish to make the best Fish Tacos. But you can use frozen fish purchased at the store if you prefer.

When choosing the best fish to make this recipe, we recommend sticking with a white fish. These are some of our other suggestions:

Ingredients needed - tilapia, oil, lime, chili powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper, corn tortillas, butter, sour cream, mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, cabbage, tomatoes, cilantro, cheese

Ingredients: 

For the Tacos: 

  • Tilapia Filets 
  • Avocado Oil 
  • Lime, juiced 
  • Chili Powder 
  • Garlic Powder 
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Mini Corn Tortillas (street taco size) 
  • Butter 

For the Sauce: 

  • Sour Cream 
  • Lime, juiced 
  • Mayonnaise 
  • Garlic Powder 
  • Sriracha Sauce 

For the Toppings: 

  • Purple Cabbage, shredded 
  • Avocados, sliced 
  • Roma Tomatoes, diced 
  • Red Onion, sliced 
  • Cilantro, chopped 
  • Cotija Cheese, grated 
  • Limes, cut into wedges 

How to Make Fish Tacos on Blackstone: 

  • Step 1 – Preheat the Blackstone grill over medium high heat (approximately 400 degrees F).  
  • Step 2 – Place the tilapia filets on a plate and drizzle the avocado oil and lime juice on top. Then season the filets with the chili powder, garlic powder and salt.  
  • Step 3 – Drizzle oil on the grill and spread it around with a spatula.

  • Step 4 – Place the tilapia filets on one side of the Blackstone Grill.  Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until the fish is slightly browned and flakey.

  • Step 5 – Remove from the grill to a separate plate and let it rest for 5 minutes.  Then slice the fish into large pieces.

  • Step 6 – Stir the sauce ingredients together in a small mixing bowl.

  • Step 7 – Melt the butter on the other side of the Blackstone grill.  Fry the mini corn tortillas in the butter on the grill for 1 minute per side until they are warmed and browned. 
  • Step 8 – Then assemble the tacos.  Use 2 corn tortillas per taco.  Top each taco with the fish and drizzle it with the sauce. 
  • Step 9 – Then top with the cabbage, avocado, tomatoes, red onions, cheese and lime juice.  
  • Step 10 – Serve immediately while warm and enjoy!

Tips for Blackstone Fish Tacos:

  • Season Fish – Make sure to oil and seasoning Tilapia before adding to the griddle.
  • Blackstone Griddle – Preheat Blackstone Griddle and oil before adding fish. This helps to prevent the fish from sticking and gives it a crispy texture.
  • Tilapia – You will know when your Tilapia is done with it is browned and flakey.
  • Cook Both Sides – Cook each side of the Tilapia for about 3 minutes. This allows for the tilapia to cook thoroughly.

Recipe Variations:

  • Fish – This recipe will work great with any type of white fish.  
  • Sauce – We used a creamy sauce over the top of the cooked fish. But you can use any type or none at all.
  • Shredded Cabbage – We love the shredded cabbage mixture to serve over the top of the fish, but you can easily use just shredded lettuce.

How to Make Fish Tacos on Stove Top:

If you do not have a Blackstone Griddle or would prefer to cook indoors, these Fish Tacos will still taste amazing. Stove Top Fish Tacos is an easy recipe.

  • Prepare the fish as indicated with the oil and seasoning.
  • Cook the fish in a cast iron skillet over medium heat in oil. We recommend the cast iron skillet because of the texture that it gives.
  • Slice cooked chicken and place in warm tortillas.
  • Top with the creamy sauce and shredded cabbage mixture.
