Variations Ideas

  • Seasoning – You can easily change or add seasoning to what you prefer. Feel free to sprinkle the tops of the baby potatoes with fresh herbs, minced garlic, garlic butter or fresh rosemary.
  • Serving – We love to serve these smashed potatoes with parmesan cheese. But you can also serve with chopped bacon, sour cream, or other types of cheese.

Step by Step Instructions 

  • Step 1 – Add the potatoes to a large pot and cover them with water. Bring the water to a boil and boil the potatoes for 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender.
  • Step 2 – Drain the potatoes and allow them to cool slightly.
  • Step 3 – Heat the Blackstone Grill over high heat.
  • Step 4 – Place the butter or olive oil on the griddle and spread it out with a spatula.
  • Step 5 – Then place the cooked small potatoes on the Blackstone grill and smash them down with a cast iron press or your spatula.

  • Step 6 – Top the potatoes with half of the oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Cook for a few minutes (3-5 minutes) until the potatoes are golden brown.

  • Step 7 – Then flip the potatoes, season the other side with the oil and the remaining seasonings. Cook for a few more minutes until golden brown.
