Surf and Turf Foil Pack Recipe:

Surf N Turf is a delicious recipe that is loaded with flavor. The meats and seasoning are placed on sheets of foil and then wrapped to be grilled.

We love making aluminum foil pack recipes as there is a variety of ways to enjoy them. They are quick and easy to make and perfect for your next camping trip.

Ingredients needed for surf and turf foil pack

Ingredients: 

Serves: 4 

  • Top Sirloin Steak (cut into 1 inch pieces) 
  • Raw Shrimp (deveined) 
  • Corn (cut into 3 pieces each) 
  • Cherry Tomatoes 
  • Small Red Onion (sliced) 
  • Lemon (cut into wedges)
  • Minced Garlic 
  • Old Bay Seasoning 
  • Dried Thyme Leaves 
  • Ground Cumin 
  • Black Pepper 
  • Butter (melted) 
  • Fresh Parsley (finely chopped) 

How to Cook Surf and Turf Foil Pack on the Grill: 

  • Step 1 – Preheat the grill over medium high heat (approximately 450 degrees F).
  • Step 2 – Cut 4 large pieces of heavy duty sheets of foil about 12 X 12 inches. Then spray the foil into non-stick cooking spray such as olive oil.
  • Step 3 – Evenly portion out the steak, shrimp, corn, tomatoes, red onions and lemon wedges. Onto each of the pieces of foil.  
  • Step 4 – Season each of the ingredients in the packets with the seasoning. Season with minced garlic, old bay seasoning, thyme, cumin and black pepper. Drizzle the melted butter on top of each packet.

  • Step 5 – Then fold up the edges of the foil around the food to create a closed packet.
  • Step 6 – Place the foil packets on the grill over direct heat.  Grill for 15-20 minutes (flipping halfway through the cook time). Grill until cooked through and the steak has an internal temperature of 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Step 7 – Serve immediately topped with fresh parsley and enjoy.

How to Make Surf and Turf Foil Pack in Oven:

We love making these surf and turf foil packs on the grill, but they are also delicious in the oven. Prepare the packets as the recipe indicates, then place in the oven.

Bake these packets for 15-20 minutes at 425 degrees F.  Then carefully open packets to check for doneness. Serve with your favorite side dish for a complete meal idea.

Recipe Tips:

  • Foil Packets – After placing the ingredients on the foil, fold top and bottom edges to seal packets.
  • Divide Ingredients – Once you have gathered the ingredients, evenly divide. You want to make sure not to overfill the foil packets.
  • Grilling Recipes – Grill the foil packets until steak is done to what you prefer.

Variation Ideas:

  • Vegetables – Feel free to change vegetables to what you prefer. We love to add in potatoes, grape tomatoes, and more.
  • Meat – You can also make these foil packets with chicken and steak if you do not want shrimp.
  • Seasoning – When serving we love to garnish with fresh lime wedges and garlic for flavor. You can also add in fresh thyme leaves or garlic between each foil.
