How Long to Cook Drumsticks:

After seasoning the chicken drumsticks in a bowl, place them on the Blackstone. Brown the skins of the drumsticks for about 10 minutes. Make sure to rotate them on each side.

Then reduce the heat, cover and cook for additional 15 minutes until chicken drumsticks are cooked. Use an instant-read meat thermometer to make sure that the chicken drumsticks are cooked to a safe temperature before eating.

Chicken just needs to be cooked to 165 degrees F but we prefer to cook drumsticks longer to prevent any residual blood around the bones in the drumsticks.

BBQ Drumsticks Recipe Tips:

  • Blackstone Dome – If you do not have a dome, you can cook the drumsticks with the lid closed on medium high to finish cooking the drumsticks.
  • Cooking Oil – Any oil with a high smoke point will work for this recipe.  We love using avocado oil or coconut oil for this recipe.
  • Adding BBQ Sauce – We recommend waiting until the chicken done cooking before adding the BBQ sauce. If you add the BBQ sauce to early then it will burn the chicken.
