How to Make Chipotle Burger
Step 1 – Divide the ground beef into 6 even balls (approximately ⅓ lb each). Then form the balls into patties that are approximately 4 inches wide and 1 inch thick. Place the patties in the refrigerator (covered in plastic wrap) while you preheat the grill.
Step 2 – Place all the chipotle sauce ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. Refrigerate while you prepare the burgers. Preheat the Grill over medium high heat (approximately 450-500 degrees F). Rub oil on the grill grates to prevent the patties from sticking to the grill.
Step 3 – Season the patties with salt, pepper, garlic powder and ground cumin.
Step 4 – Place the patties on the grill over direct heat. Cook for 4-8 minutes flipping the patties halfway through the cook time. Cook depending on how you like your burger cooked (see notes).
- Step 7 – Use an instant-read meat thermometer to make sure that the burgers are cooked to your preference.
- Step 8 – Add the cheese to the patties for the last minute of the cook time to melt the cheese. Remove the patties from the grill.
- Step 9 – Butter the buns and place them on the grill and cook for 1 minute until they are browned slightly. Watch them closely so that they do not burn.
- Step 10 – Spread the chipotle sauce onto the bottom bun. Then top with lettuce, a patty, tomato and sliced avocados.
- Step 11 – Serve immediately while warm and enjoy.
