How long do Chicken Thighs take to Grill?
Cooking time will depend on what temperature you put your grill on. If you use medium-high heat and depending on the thickness of the thighs it will take about 7 to 10 minutes to cook your thighs.
An instant-read meat thermometer is the best way to know when the chicken is ready to enjoy. Make sure that the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees F. Use the meat thermometer at the thickest part of the chicken thigh.
How do I Grill Chicken Thighs without burning them?
Follow these tips to ensure that your chicken thighs do not burn.
- Watching the chicken thighs closely will ensure that they will not burn. It will also depend on the ingredients. If you have honey, it could burn easily.
- Only flip the chicken when it’s ready. If you try to flip the chicken too early, the skin will tear and start to burn.
- You can place the chicken on indirect heat instead of directly on the heat flames to prevent it from burning. Cooking chicken thighs doesn’t take long, but just watch it closely.

These sound wonderful! In the first part, you say they can be made in the oven, but I couldn’t find how in the instructions. Would these be broiled or just baked?
These sound wonderful, but I don’t barbecue. You say that these could be made in the oven, would that be broiled or just baked?
I would bake them at 400 degrees for about 30 minutes – or until done.
I would bake in 400 degree oven for 40 minutes or until cooked through.
Hi Has anyone made this recipe on the bbq? How did you like it? I can’t find any comments for those who actually tried this. Quick reply would be appreciated.
I have to admit that I needed a last minute recipe for boneless, skinless chicken thighs and tried this one because I had all the ingredients on hand. My expectation wasn’t high, but I’m glad to admit I was wrong. This is a delicious recipe!. We will definitely grill this again. I think it would be better if I marinated the thighs overnight; as it was, I only marinated for 1 hour and it was very, very good.
Oh I’m so happy you loved it! It is a simple recipe that is packed with flavor.
Yes people are loving this.
I haven’t made these yet but really want to! My question is……..Can I make this recipe with leg & thigh portions?
Yes you can.
This was so good! Quick and easy. I did not have Dijon mustard, so I used regular yellow mustard and it still turned out delicious. As another person commented, it tasted a lot like Bourbon chicken. Thanks for the recipe; will definitely make again!
“The best chicken ever”, is what I hear from everyone when I prepare this chicken. Made 20 pounds of it for a family function, not one piece left ! Easy and quick to make. Love your recipes! My go to site!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this recipe! I marinated the thighs overnight before grilling them. I had 8 thighs and my 13 year old Grandson ate 3 at supper and the last 2 the next night. He loved them and so did I!
I’m so glad your grandson and you enjoyed this recipe – Thank you for sharing!
