Ingredients 

Ingredients - Hot Dog Buns, Hot Dogs, Shredded Cheese, butter
  • Hot Dogs – Use hot dog of your choice. We like to use bun length all beef hot dogs. You can also use pork hot dogs.
  • Hot Dog Buns – Use any type of bun of your choice. You can even use two slices of bread
  • Monterey Jack Cheese and Cheddar Cheese – Use freshly shredded cheese. You can also use slices cheese.
  • Butter – We like using unsalted butter

How to Make Grilled Cheese Hot Dogs

  • Step 1 – Preheat a Blackstone grill or a griddle over medium high heat.

Step 2 – Open up each of the hot dogs buns and roll them with a rolling pin to flatten them out. You can even add a thin layer of mayonnaise

Step 3 – Slice each hot dog in half lengthwise so that they lay flat on the grill but they’re still connected.

Step 4 – Add the butter to the grill or griddle. Allow it to melt and spread it out onto the medium heat grill.

Step 5 – Place all the hot dog buns onto the griddle. Top the buns with 1 cup of the shredded Monterey Jack cheese and shredded cheddar cheese evenly.

Step 6 – Place the hot dogs on the griddle next to the buns, flat side down.  Grill for about 3-4 minutes until they start to brown.  Flip and cook the other side for couple of minutes until it starts to brown as well with a spatula.

Step 7 – Place the hot dogs onto each bun (on one side) and top with the remaining shredded cheese evenly. 

  • Step 8 – Close buns and continue to cook until all the piece of cheese is melted.  Serve warm with ketchup and mustard.  Enjoy!  

Recipe Tips

  • Prepare Blackstone – Make sure to preheat the Blackstone Griddle before placing the hot dogs on the griddle. This will help to create the best texture and to cook the hot dogs evenly.
  • Hot Dog Buns – We recommend flatten the hot dogs so it helps to make the bread crispy to create the best grilled cheese.
  • Cooking Hot Dogs – We recommend to cook the hot dogs for about 2 minutes on each side or longer depending on if you want it a little more of a burnt texture.
