Grilled Cheese and Egg Sandwich Recipe:

Make the ultimate grilled cheese sandwiches by adding a fried egg. The results are a delicious sandwich that is made on the griddle. The bread gets a crispy texture and the center has melted cheese and a runny egg.

You are going to love this fried egg sandwich. We love making breakfast sandwiches on the griddle. If you love egg sandwiches on the griddle, make our Blackstone Egg McMuffin or Blackstone Eggs in a Basket.

Blackstone recipes are easy to make and are perfect for my large family. I can cook several of these Cheese and Egg Sandwiches at once on the griddle. The perfect family time meal to enjoy on the weekends.

What Kind of Cheese is on an Egg Sandwich?

We used Cheddar Cheese in on this egg sandwich but you can use any type of cheese. We just recommend to use a cheese that melts well.

These are some of my favorite cheese slices options:

  • Colby Jack
  • Swiss Cheese
Ingredients needed - bread, butter, eggs, salt and pepper, cheese

Ingredients:

  • Bread (thick Texas style)
  • Butter (divided)
  • Large Eggs

How to Make Grilled Cheese Egg Sandwich indoors:

If you prefer you can Grill this sandwich on an indoor griddle or a skillet. We like using a cast iron skillet as it cooks similar to the Blackstone.

  • Heat butter in the skillet over medium low heat.
  • Place one slice of the butter bread in the skillet.
  • Top the bread with cheese and egg. Place the other slice of bread on top.
  • Cook the sandwich until each side is golden brown.

What to Serve with Grilled Egg and Cheese Sandwich:

This sandwich is great for a weekend breakfast or for a quick weeknight dinner. When we cook on the Blackstone, we like to make our sides on it too. It makes for an easy clean up.

  • Blackstone BaconWe love to cook bacon the griddle as it gets the perfect amount of crisp. I can cook a large portion on the griddle because of the large surface.
  • Fruit – Make a fruit salad for a delicious and refreshing side with the Egg and Cheese Sandwich.
  • Breakfast SausageCooking the sausage on the Blackstone is easy to do and gives the sausage so much flavor.
