Substitutions and Additions

  • Mayonnaise – You can use mayonnaise instead of butter in this recipe if you prefer. 
  • Change the Cheese – These sandwiches are great with any of your favorite types of cheese.  You can even add in shredded mozzarella.
  • Additions – These sandwiches are even better with added ingredients. Try these options, caramelized onion, ham, jalapenos, sausage patties, and crispy bacon.

How to Make Grilled Cheese Egg Sandwich on Blackstone Griddle

  • Step 1 – Heat Griddle – Preheat the Blackstone Grill over medium high heat (approximately 400 degrees F).
  • Step 2 – Butter Bread – Butter one side of each of the pieces of bread and set them aside.

Step 3 – Melt Butter – Melt the remaining butter onto the Blackstone grill. Crack the eggs on one side of the Blackstone grill and season them with salt and pepper.  Cook for 4-6 minutes until the egg whites are cooked through and the yolk is cooked to your preference.

Step 4 – Place bread on the grill – Place 2 slices of the bread butter side down onto the grill.  Top each piece with 1 slice of cheddar cheese.

Step 5 – Top with Eggs – Then top each with 2 fried eggs.

Step 6 – Add Cheese – Add the remaining cheese on top of the fried eggs. Then add salt and pepper.

Step 7 – Top with Bread – Next top with the other pieces of bread, butter side up.

Step 8 – Cook both sides – Cook both of the sandwiches over medium high heat until golden brown (4-5 minutes).  Flip the sandwiches and cook the other side for 4-5 more minutes until golden brown.

  • Step 9 – Slice and Enjoy – Remove the skillet, cut in half and enjoy!

  • Heat Griddle – Heat griddle to medium high heat to give the sandwich the best texture. Make sure to oil the griddle to prevent the sandwich from sticking.

How to Make Grilled Cheese Egg Sandwich Indoors

If you prefer you can Grill this sandwich on an indoor griddle or a skillet. We like using a cast iron skillet as it cooks similar to the Blackstone.

  • Heat butter in the skillet over medium low heat.
  • Place one slice of the butter bread in the skillet.
  • Top the bread with cheese and egg. Place the other slice of bread on top.
  • Cook the sandwich until each side is golden brown.

We used Cheddar Cheese in on this egg sandwich but you can use any type of cheese. We just recommend to use a cheese that melts well. These are some of my favorite cheese slices options, Cheddar, Pepper Jack, Colby Jack, American Cheese, and Swiss Cheese

What is the Best Bread for Grilled Cheese Egg Sandwich

Why are My Eggs Sticking to my Blackstone Griddle?

If your eggs are sticking to the flat top griddle it is because that the griddle has not been preheated or not enough oil.

How to Store Leftover Grilled Cheese Egg Sandwich

  • 2 Tablespoons Butter divided
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 4 Slices Cheddar Cheese
