How to Make Hawaiian BBQ Beef

Marinade Ingredients combined in a bowl

Step 1 – In a medium size mixing bowl, stir together the BBQ sauce, juice from the can of pineapple slices (reserve the pineapple), soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, ginger, salt and pepper.

Placing strips of beef in a bowl with the marinade

Step 2 – Reserving some of the sauce. Pour approximately ½ cup of the sauce into a small bowl, cover and refrigerate. Place the beef in a large bowl or ziplock bag and pour the remaining sauce over the beef. Let Meat Marinade for 4 hours.

Step 4 – While the beef is cooking, place the pineapple rings on the griddle. Cook the pineapple for about 1-2 minutes on each side, or until lightly charred and heated through.

  • Step 5 – Remove the beef and pineapple rings from the Blackstone grill.  Baste them immediately with the reserved sauce.
  • Step 6 – Let the beef rest for at least 5 minutes.
  • Step 7 – Serve the beef over rice topped with the pineapple rings, sesame seeds and chopped green onions.  Enjoy!

Expert Tips

  • Cooking Time – Since the beef is sliced thin, it does cook quickly so watch it closely once it’s been added to the Blackstone grill. This beef cooks in about minutes.
  • Oil – You can use any oil with a high smoke point in this recipe instead of the avocado oil.  Vegetable oil, canola oil and coconut oil are all great options.
  • Cutting Steak – We recommend cutting the steak in about the same size pieces to ensure it evenly cooks.
